1:20 Newbury -
Fox Power 3rd
Note: Ran well on debut at Goodwood when favourite looking as if needing the race. Will improve and holds strong claims.
1:30 Nottingham -
Qutob (highly rated) (Charles Hills) 2nd
Converter (Mick Channon) 1st
Note: Very strong claims for Qutob. Held in high regard and should take some beating. Converter is interesting for the future. The betting suggests he is not going to win today. Still may run better than odds 12/1. If priced 8/1 & less SP holds claims.
1:50 Newbury -
Boerhan (William Haggas) 1st
Fox Premier (Andrew Balding) 5th
Desirous (Ralph Beckett) 6th
Note: Interest trio competing here. Fox Premier is likely to make most of his experience after somewhat disappointing on debut at Sandown. The two debutantes are in best betting guides and hold claims.
4:20 Wolverhampton -
Al Mureib (Saeed bin Suroor) 2nd
Bo Samraan (Mark Johnston) 5th
Takumi (Roger Varian) 6th
Note: Interesting trio. Roger Varian's Takumi is a big price at 10/1. I wonder if there will be some money for this son of Mastercraftsman.
4:35 Newbury -
Alhakmah (highly rated) (Richard Hannon) 2nd
East Coast Swing (highly rated) (George Scott) 8th
Yourtimeisnow (Roger Varian) 1st
Note: Very interested in this race. Alhakmah is well regarded and short price after a narrow defeat at Goodwood on debut. East Coast Swing is held in high regard and looks to be the best two-year-old for George Scott. I can see this filly going well and must have each-way claims. The odds-on favourite will be hard to beat but holds up the price of what could be a very talented juvenile. Yourtimeisnow is capable although behind the favourite at Goodwood last time out.
5:50 Chelmsford -
Isaan Queen (Archie Watson) 2nd
Note: Won on debut but struggled a little under a winning penalty last time out.
6:30 Newmarket -
Emirates Empire (Michael Bell) 9th
Venedeger (Ed Dunlop) 2nd
Waldstern (John Gosden) 1st
Wojood (Hugo palmer) Unp
Note: A competitive heat. All four are of interest. Emirates Empire is priced to go well for Michael Bell. He did well the other week with Lady Aria who we identified as a talent. Debutantes can be tricky so always something of a quandary if betting. However, a horse with ability. Waldstern is held in some regard by John Gosden. Their horses often go well when priced 13/2 & less SP. The two form horses have valuable experience, which counts for a lot. Venedeger is a battling type and one of few horses held in regard by Ed Dunlop. I can see this colt hitting the frame. Wojood is capable of better and may well have needed the race on debut when starting at big odds. Hugo palmer's two-year-olds can improve for their first run and often go well the second start. If fancied in the betting has claims. If very weak in the market best watched.
Good luck.
