Wednesday's 2YO Racing (22nd May)

I've been a little quiet these last few days. However, we are always busy working to find those top-class horses which Group Horse is all about.

Recent sparkling winners including Mark Johnston's Misty Grey who flopped on debut but won by seven lengths at Ripon next start when as big as 20/1 on the betting exchanges, returning 17/2 SP with bookmakers.

All you have to do is follow the updates on the 2019 Group Horse Page

So what are we looking at for Wednesday? Three two-year-old races to consider. I haven't even looked at the races as yet, so you are following my lead as I assess each race as you read these words. At the rock face, so to speak.

2:00 Ayr -

A 6f Maiden Stakes on good to firm going. Nine two-year-olds take part.

Let's take a look at the significant juveniles in this race. Mark Johnston has a number of talented juveniles. So far we have seen Xcelente, Companion, Alminoor & Misty Grey winning in style.

Johnston has a Frankel colt making its debut today. Fred is a chestnut colt out of the winning mare Dierdre who was trained by John Gosden. He cost 145,000 guineas at the yearling sales, which is a comparatively cheap purchase considering the stallion fee is £175,000. Perhaps Fred is an ugly duckling because you would expect him to cost more. Johnston has given this February foal a Class 2 stakes race entry which gives some hope. I often say that this stable sends out an easy winner or a poor loser.

Time will tell.

Interesting to see Karl Burke had a winner at Carlisle the other day in the shape of Rayong. A few of the stable's juveniles have been running better and this may give encouragement for Lord Of The Lodge. This Irish-bred son of Dandy Man cost 35,000 euros and received a couple of Class 2 Stakes entries. The stable has just three entered juveniles at this time. From a statistical point of view, this stable can win on debut, although they are a much better proposition second start.

Interesting.

A couple more two-year-old races to look at.

2:45 Yarmouth & 7:25 Kempton

Sadly, I don't have the time to write about these races so you will have to take a look at those yourself. The entries are there on the page so it really is a very straight forward appraisal.
