Well, not too much going on yesterday, but still gave the winner.
No surprise. If you look through all the result/blog posts it's a similar story. Talented horses. The trainer gave us the nod.
Boom...
Let's take a look at Friday's 2yo updates. A few races to consider. I'm going to keep this short and sweet with the basics as I feel whacked. Said I was tired - had this dated as Thursday!
1:10 Newbury -
Interesting to see Lyndon B here after a great introduction at Yarmouth. Lost out to a decent horse that day. Without a doubt, I'm sure George Scott thought their son of Charm Spirit would win. Quickly followed a Listed entry to add a little heat to that talk. Must have fair each-way claims if prices allow.
Other horses noted by trainers.
Brian Meehan has Amplify who raced at Group class when venturing to France. He didn't hit the frame but an entry that speaks well. Meehan isn't the type of trainer to travel across the channel for escargot.
Lydon B 9/2 4th
Amplify 10/1 9th
Note: This looked a tricky if not competitive heat. Lydon B may have been a touch keen in the early stage which saw him run on from off the pace. Looked to have third but beaten for that place by the big grey Montathan. Amplify was a marked drifter in the betting and did little.
1:40 Newbury -
Michael Bell has noted over 10 talented juveniles this year. Babbo's Boy is one of those. This son of Mastercraftsman drifted markedly in the betting on debut at Salisbury. However, he was thereabout until tiring in the closing stages. It's possible he was in need of the run. Sure, we have to take a leap of faith but it isn't beyond the realms. This is a big, old field and no doubt a few fancied horses in opposition. Could be backed from 16/1. Interesting to see is this colt progresses from that first start.
Babbo's Boy 16/1 4th
Note: The leading pair went a frantic pace while Babbo's Boy was outpaced at the back. He ran on with some determination and looked to hold some hope but tired in the closing stages to finish a respectable 4th at odds of 16/1.
1:50 Doncaster -
Blue Gardenia has raced three times and been in the mix. She ran well on the first two starts but last time out at Redcar was a very disappointing effort. Simply didn't show anything. Had a month or so I guess there was a problem and connections will be hoping she returns with vim and vigour.
Blue Gardenia 12/1 2nd
Note: Blue Gardenia came back from a disappointing effort - running well. Managed to plug on for second place at 12/1 but no threat to the smart debutante Dancing Vega, trained by Ralph Beckett.
2:15 Newbury -
John Gosden has a nice string of juveniles. Franz Kafka was the second or third string that day as the stable had Turgenev pummel the opposition. However, Franz Kafka may have been 33/1 but this son of Dubawi showed promise running on to take third place. He was a took keen in the early stages. Not much of a price but has been noted by connections which gives some confidence.
Natty Night was given a Class 2 entry but shown next to no ability as yet. Best watched at 40/1 unless you feel inspired.
Natty Night 100/1 4th
Franz Kafka 8/11 6th
Note: Franz Kafka proved a disappointment. Put down a challenge but faded into 5th. Natty Night showed much more ability today with a four-length lead mid-race at 100/1 to finish a creditable 4th.
A slightly quieter day - but interesting.

7f (7f1y) Injured Jockeys Fund EBF Novice Stakes (Class 5) (2yo)
Runners: 12
Going: Standard
Analysis:
For starters, we note that the favourite for this race is one of our 10 Dark Horses. Silent Hunter is trained by Saeed bin Suroor. This bay colt is a son of Dutch Art out of a debut-winning mare who achieved four wins from fourteen starts. She was trained by Dermot Weld and won twice at Group 3 class. She was priced 9/2 for the Irish 1000 Guineas but finished 7th. A highest of official rating of 109 detailed a talented horse. Silent Hunter has been entered for a couple of significant races this year. Interesting.
Other noted horses include Voltaic who finished third in the Convivial Maiden Stakes. Running off the pace it is possible this son of Power was flattered. He wasn't overly fancied next start at Sandown when stepping up to one mile. That was a disappointing display. Perhaps, dropping back to 7f will see a little more vim.
Voltiac 6/1 3rd
Silent Hunter 5/4 4th
Conclusion: Doesn't look the strongest of fields and if Silent Hunter has a touch of class, connections will be hopeful.
6:15 Chelmsford -
7f totepool Cashback Club At totesport.com Fillies' Novice Stakes (Plus 10 Race) (Class 4) (2yo)
Runners: 14
Going: Standard
Analysis:
A big field but interesting.
Jeremy Noseda hasn't had a vintage year by any stretch of the imagination. Just four horses received significant entries this year. None of any particular note. Quasar has been noted. I expected this American-bred son of Orb to show up well on debut at Yarmouth. This $250,000 breeze-up purchase ran a fair race in fifth place beaten four lengths. This bay filly is in the ownership of Marc Keller, who is a significant patron to this stable. I was left with the impression that Quasar was a touch unlucky and would benefit from this experience, especially this step up to 7f. If touching each-way prices would be a decent bet.
Note: Quasar ran too bad to be true. Must have disappointed.
We Like Her A Lot is the only other entry of note. Richard Hannon's filly wasn't fancied in the betting on debut and didn't show a great deal in sixth place. May improve for the experience and this step up in trip but needs to find much more today.
Quasar 4/1 8th
We Like Her A Lot 14/1 4th
6:45 Chelmsford -
1m2f Weatherbys Global Stallions App Maiden Stakes (Plus 10 Race) (Class 4) (2yo)
Runners: 5
Going: Standard
Analysis:
Michael Bell's Allmankind has run consistently in three starts to date. Has achieved an official rating of 87. Doesn't look to be one of the stable's better juveniles. A prohibitive price.
Le Don De Vie has recieved a similar Class 2 entry.
Mark Johnston has a vast string of two-year-olds and Caplin looks to be a disappointment although something of a mystery why connections entered this son of Cape Cross in the Convivial Maiden Stakes. Perhaps the owner wanted a couple of badges! Given another hard task when racing at Goodwood at Class 2. This looks an easier race but nothing shown in two starts to date to enthral.
Natty Night is another to have received a Class 2 entry. Willaim Muir hasn't had many two-year-old runners this year but it is interesting this son of Nathaniel was given such an entry because he is the only horse for the stable this season. Showed little to nothing that day but horses can disappoint on debut. Priced 80/1 today. A tall order but a significant step up in distance may see more. It isn't impossible this horse may run better than its odds.
Allmankind 4/9 1st
Caplin 12/1 2nd
Le Don De Vie 11/4 3rd
Natty Night 20/1 4th
A quick review of Wednesday's races.

7½f (7f80y) Weatherbys Racing Bank Maiden Stakes (Class 5) (2yo)
William Muir doesn't have the biggest string of juveniles but a capable trainer. In general, his two-year-olds are better on their second start but he can win on their racecourse bow if talented. Natty Night (20/1) was purchased at the yearling sales for 40,000 guineas by the trainer. This bay colt - a son of Nathaniel - is of interest but slightly difficult to assess. A recent Class 2 entry gives some hope.
Another interesting horse is John Gallagher's Blue Battalion (25/1). This British-bred son of Cityscape is a relatively cheap yearling purchase at £18,000. The mare won three times and a fair horse although nothing outstanding. What's interesting for this colt, is knowledge of a recent Convivial Maiden Stakes entry. That is a sign of confidence. Another horse priced at 25/1 that may well show something on debut. If available at huge prices on the exchanges may be worth a bet. A few of Gallagher's debutantes have run well on debut and been backed. I remember Quench Dolly a few years back. Interesting.
6:20 Wolverhampton -
6f (6f20y) HellermannTyton Fixings Maiden Stakes (Class 5) (2yo)
A very interesting race with a number of fair juveniles. I can imagine a few of these trainers considered this to be a lesser race to target. Looks like they all had the same idea.
William Haggas has Luxor (9/2) racing here who proved a disappointing favourite when struggling on debut at Windsor. This son of Oasis Dream didn't show much at all that day. It could well be the case he simply didn't show and there is much better to come. This horse is in the ownership of Highclere Thoroughbreds and cost £190,000 at the yearling sales. He held a Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2) entry which adds some confidence although needs to improve for that first start. If priced 13/2 & less SP, holds fair each-way claims.
Karl Burke is a fantastic trainer. I often say to people, if you cannot make money from their two-year-olds there is something gone wrong. Sosume (5/1) hasn't been seen for over 40 days and the hood is applied for the first time. Racing in the familiar silks of Mrs Maureen Gittins, he cost 105,000 at the breeze-up sales. Sosume ran well at Thirsk, but I was left with the feeling the jockey went a stride too fast. This step up in distance shouldn't be a problem although a wide draw isn't ideal. He has plenty enough pace so may get to the rail but that exuberance could be a slight problem.
A race full of interest. East Coast Swing (40/1) has a number of significant entries and backed a touch on debut. This grey daughter of Exchange Rate cost 400,000 at the breeze-up sales for owners G Bolton and B Jenkins. George Scott is a difficult trainer to assess and someone whose debutantes often disappoint. On entries, ownership and price tag, this filly looks very likely to have the ability - perhaps a high level. A wide draw is a concern. You really don't want to try to get to the lead and be pushed wide. That would make life hard. However, this juvenile is very interesting and if going to show ability it should be today.
Conclusion: A fascinating race. This looks a strong contest with a few form horses which statistically have some hope. In addition, Luxor, Sosume and East Coast Swing are very interesting. I must admit, East Coast Swing could, potentially, be a high-class horse. The debut effort was difficult to assess. She may not have shown anything but today could shine. The draw is a concern. She could still have enough ability to hit the frame but it is a difficult one. Luxor needs to improve and can. From a statistical point holds fair each-way claims. While Sosume ran ok the last start but in many ways disappointed. All three noted could hit the frame but trying to pick between the lines could be a puzzle.
6:50 Wolverhampton -
7f (7f36y) HellermannTyton Insulation Maiden Auction Fillies' Stakes (Plus 10 Race) (Class 5) (2yo)
Comete (14/1) has been relatively fancied on both start but disappointed. Definitely not one of the better juveniles in the stable but this is a restricted race type. This filly is stepping up in distance and well drawn.
Tom Clover gave Rajy (66/1) a Class 2 entry very early season but shown little to date. Certainly needs to improve but big question marks, too.
I've detailed a very speculative multibet which pays over 3000/1.
